Venus 2012 transit visibility map. The only chance anyone on earth today has of seeing this event barring the big break through in DNA replication 

Looking north on 2862004 in same area of sky and at same time as previous post but without noctilucent clouds. Good pic but shows the difference in sky appearance when no 'night shining clouds'.

Working day but I have just set up this blog to engage with the wider universe. Looking forward to Venus transit tomorrow on 862004 lets hope for clear sky's but use eye protection to look at the transit.

What is a transit? A transit is when a planet or moon passes in front of another body and can then be seen against the background of a brighter oject such as the Sun. Other well known transits are the moons of jupiter passing over the face of Jupiter which occur regularly.
