Monday 762004

Working day but I have just set up this blog to engage with the wider universe. Looking forward to Venus transit tomorrow on 862004 lets hope for clear sky's but use eye protection to look at the transit.

What is a transit? A transit is when a planet or moon passes in front of another body and can then be seen against the background of a brighter oject such as the Sun. Other well known transits are the moons of jupiter passing over the face of Jupiter which occur regularly.

Venus transit a wash-out due to heavy cloud during the whole transit period. Better luck on its twin transit in a few years time.

Venus transits come in pairs and the next one is due on June 6 2012 but will not be visible from the UK. See my post of the world visibility chart for the 2012 event.
